I am a writer, scholar, and educator. I write in a variety of genres, and my publications include academic articles, books, book chapters, personal essays, short stories, and most recently, my memoir How to Get a Girl Pregnant, a finalist for the 2012 Lambda Literary Award.

I have taught several courses in the Bachelor of Education program: EDUC 4313H Sociocultural Perspectives on Human Development and Learning, EDUC 4562H Science and Social Studies, EDUC 4353H Practicum: Developing Teaching Identity, Knowledge, and Skill, EDUC 4672Y English, and EDUC 4233 Supporting Literacy and Learners with Special Needs.

In my research, I investigate sociocultural influences on learning. I am interested in power dynamics within classrooms (broadly defined), the identities we claim, and the stories we tell.
