Development of a Broad-scale Monitoring Program for Ontario’s Flowing Waters

Researchers: Nick Jones and growing list of participants

Project Description: We are in the very beginning stages of developing this program.  Within this program there are several sub-projects are under consideration: these include (1) development of an aquatic ecoclassification for flowing waters, (2) methods for sampling flowing waters e.g., Riverine Index Netting, (3) development of measures to describe the state of flowing waters, and (4) the statistical and reporting framework.

Waterpower Effectiveness Monitoring, the adaptive management of regulated flows, might be seen as a subcomponent to the broad-scale monitoring program for there are many commonalities.
