Opportunities:
A
Practicum in Psychology - Psyc 3801 -3802H, 4801-4802H
Practicum students will be involved in many aspects of research,
including identifying testable questions, designing experiments,
constructing materials, running tests on participants, and entering,
coding, and analyzing data.
A Psychology Honours Thesis - Psyc 4010-4020D
An honours thesis will give you hands-on experience with all
aspects of research, including identifying testable questions, designing
experiments, constructing materials, running tests on participants,
and entering, coding, and analyzing data.
In addition, students may have the opportunity to present their
research at a Canadian or international research conference.
Benefits
of a practicum or honours thesis:
Carrying-out a research project from start to finish, will give
you a much stronger sense of what psychology is as a professional
discipline and will enrich your classroom experience by giving you
the opportunity to apply your learning.
The skills that you will acquire from a research project will be
an asset to your CV, and will help you stand-out to potential employers.
Working in a lab will allow your instructor to get to know you,
making it much easier to give you an employment reference.
It will also connect you to the the world of research that lies
beyond your classroom.
