Some of our research on coyotes in Toronto and Eastern wolves in Algonquin Park was featured in the documentary “Meet the Coywolf” on CBC’s The Nature of Things. Although the documentary provides some interesting information to the public on the colonization of eastern North America by coyotes and highlights results from current research regarding behaviour, diet, movement, etc., we do not agree with the use of the term ‘coywolf’. Eastern coyotes, as they should be called, are not a new species and a term like coywolf is misleading and inappropriate. Click here to see the documentary.
